Live Grand Prix action at Motor Show
This Sunday, 3 August, is the final day of the British International Motor Show, sponsored by Zurich Connect. The fantastic fortnight of fun-fuelled automotive entertainment concludes with ‘Motorsport Sunday’, a celebration of all things racey!
The main attraction on Motorsport Sunday will be live coverage of the Hungarian Grand Prix, televised on a 20 square metre screen, courtesy of Philips Shavers. Activities will start from midday and the race from Budapest will be introduced by the instantly recognisable voice of commentating legend Murray Walker OBE.
Motorsport aficionados will be just as thrilled to see Sir Stirling Moss OBE mixing with the crowds, while racing fans can get up close to a number of Grand Prix racing cars, from companies such as Toyota (Stand N15), Honda (Stand N31) and Renault (Stand S15).
Younger motor racing fans will be pleased to see the familiar face of Big Chris at the Show, from the smash hit children’s TV show Roary the Racing Car. Big Chris, Roary’s mechanic, will be paying close attention to the pit stops broadcast from the Hungarian Grand Prix to pick up some top tips.
Ultimate performance, power and price
The Ultimate Collection private hospitality area and Ultimate Collection Public Gallery at The British International Motor Show both showcase the pinnacle of automotive performance and power – and if you have to ask the price, you probably, ultimately, can’t afford it!
Cars on show include the some of the world’s fastest cars such as the 242 mph Koenigsegg CCX and the £1 million, 253 mph, Bugatti Veyron. If £1 million is too much to spend, the Pagani Zonda F could be just the ticket at a mere £675,700. Unlike the Bugatti and Koenigsegg, which offer 1,000 bhp and 806 bhp respectively the Zonda has ‘just’ 650 bhp which powers the supercar to a top speed of 214mph.

Visitors to the Motor Show who crave automotive power and performance, but are not wealthy enough to own private jets and live on a private island, could visit the Ford and Renault stands in the south hall. Here they’ll find the more modestly priced super-hot Renault R26.R and the 296 bhp Ford Focus RS, the most powerful car Ford of Europe has ever produced.
