Iconic cars hit track at ExCeL

The halls at the British International Motor Show are, of course, dominated by the latest models from the world’s motor manufacturers – but the history of the car is not forgotten. Among the automotive exotica on show in the Autoglym Super Car paddock in the North Hall are some truly iconic models, like one of the first ever examples of the Jaguar XJ220.

For a historic treat however, you need only to step out of the Show’s west entrance to visit the Heritage Enclosure. In a setting reminiscent of the renowned Goodwood Revival race meeting, around 40 iconic sports cars are on show – all stars of the last 50 years of motoring. They range from the Jaguar C-Type that dominated Le Mans in the 1950s, through to the Ford GT40 that was equally successful in the French classic in the 1960s to more recent dream cars.

The line-up includes true supercars such as Ferrari’s Enzo and the McLaren-Mercedes SLR, and at 1130, 1400, 1630 and 1900 each day a selection are paraded around a specially created track on the dockside.
