Saab to crossover to new markets

One of the hottest trends in today’s motor industry is the crossover, models that combine the best features of different types of car, usually family hatches and SUVs. Visitors to the Motor Show can see clear evidence that Saab is soon to make its very own crossover.

The Saab 9-4X Biopower is designed to be practical, and as its name suggests also environmentally friendly. Saab is a leading promoter of the use of biofuels and although a concept, it gives a strong indication of a forthcoming Saab production model.

A second concept on the stand is the Saab 9-X BioHybrid. Making full use of hybrid technology as well as biofuel, the car is styled to attract younger buyers. As yet there are no clues as to whether the 9-X could ever enter production, its creators only saying it is “an expressive vision of what a future compact car from Saab could look like.”

a2om announce partnership with Volvo

a2om, the driver education specialist for younger drivers announced the formation of an exclusive working-relationship with Volvo Car UK at the Motor Show this week.

The firm, keeping one step ahead of government legislation, is offering school leavers a unique BTEC qualification in Driving Science, the equivalent of a GCSE and is accredited by Edexcel. The a2om BTEC will be rolled out nationwide after the launch at the Show.

HRH Prince Michael of Kent who is patron of the Global Road Safety Commission, and visited the a2om stand said, “I am delighted to see a2om’s national BTEC scheme bringing to the UK some of the most advanced learning from around the world.”

Top Gear at the Motor Show

Fans of Top Gear magazine will have the chance to get the next issue for half price only at the British International Motor Show. Fans will also be able to see some of the ‘stunt’ police cars from the show in a static display, strategically placed at the East entrance to the Show. There is also a shop where people will be able to buy a range of t-shirts and other Top Gear merchandise.
