Lotus names its first of three new models
Journalists patrolling the ExCeL halls on the opening morning of the British International Motor Show were intrigued by the presence of suited, faceless figures that populated the crowds gathering for manufacturer announcements. All became clear at 1130 on the Lotus stand when the British sportscar manufacturer revealed its new model. To be called the Evora, the car was described by Lotus CEO Mike Kimberley as “A true character in a faceless world.”

Speaking to the biggest gathering of press day, Kimberley also revealed that the car, Lotus’ first all-new model in 13 years, would be the first of three in the next five years. The brand is embarking on an aggressive growth programme designed to bring the joys of Lotus driving to a wider audience. “The car went from clean sheet of paper to what you see here in just 21 months,” said Kimberley. “It retains the essential Lotus DNA penned by our founder Colin Chapman many years ago. But it also adds a style and design that will appeal to a broader customer base.”
