In 2002 when Nissan was putting an end to the R34 Skyline production, Nismo had designed the concept Z-Tune Skyline. The 1st Z-Tune was built in 2003, using a used 2002 Skyline GT-R V-Spec II, using a concept RB26DETT’Z1” engine. They upgraded the engine to 2.8liter where the original RB26DETT is 2.6liter, and the upgrade produce about 600bhp. There were only 20 units of the Z-Tune Skyline was built, and is for the Nismo anniversary.

The Z-Tune is based on a used V-Spec R34 GT-R with less than 30,000km, and have extensive inspections and must pass a comprehensive check list.

For the 20 units of production model, the engine was the second revision of the Z-Tune engine and is called RB 26DET ‘Z2’, the reason why Nismo don’t choose the ‘Z1’ engine because the found that the engine having some problem, so they used the ‘Z2’ engine in the production model. But still the engine has an impressive output, generates more than 500bhp@6800rpm/540nm@5200rpm torque, and can reach 9,000rpm, that is very impressive, on the review we made, the rev meter rev up so quick where professional driver giving a thumbs up after driving the Z-Tune. Many carbon fiber materials were used in the Z-Tune, where the front part of the car used the most. With all the modification the car weight stays the same as stock at 1,600kg.

All assemble and modifications are done by hand from highly qualified mechanics using best available materials and parts. The body is also reinforced with extra welds.

This car is a car that any driver who wants to have extreme fun on the road or in the track, the Z-Tune works fine on both road and track, but it’s on the track where drivers will release the beast in the Nismo R34 GT-R Z-Tune! So only 20 units exist worldwide, and the price is regarded as the most expensive street legal GT-R ever built (JP¥ 16,900,000). Driving one of these machines is a dream comes true.
